Social Work Students Awarded Dereck Whittenburg Foundation Scholarships
Two NC State School of Social Work students, Marcilla Demry and Ramir Woodard, have been awarded Dereck Whittenburg (DW) Foundation Scholarships. These scholarships aim to extend financial assistance to deserving college students and to embody the DW Foundation mantra of "Dream. Believe. Work. Now Finish!"

Summer Student Highlight: Aaron Quick, Winner of Verne LaMarr Lyons Memorial Scholarship
Aaron Quick, an incoming MSW candidate at NC State, has won the Verne LaMarr Lyons Memorial Scholarship. At the School of Social Work, Aaron will focus much of his research on LGBTQ+ youth of color and their associated mental health needs. Though his plans don't stop at research, Aaron hopes to translate this knowledge into a meaningful career path through practice and advocacy.
